Having an internal drain installed will provide you with maximum leak protection and prevention. Not only will this solution fix active leaks, it also serves as a preventive measure for any future cracks or leaks that may occur in the treated area. Internal drainage is our toughest solution!
Is this the right solution for you?
Internal drains are not only specialized systems integrated directly into your foundation, footing and flooring, but they are the most foolproof option for fixing existing leaks and preventing new ones from wreaking havoc. Specifically, cinderblock or stone foundations require internal drainage to repair leaks due to the complexity of problems these types of foundations experience.
Internal drainage is best suited for the following problems:
Internal drains do not work in the following circumstances:
How it works:
Our first step to installing your new internal drainage system will be removing all drywall, paneling and framing etc. to expose bare concrete walls. Once all of the walls are free from obstruction, the concrete around the interior footing of your home will be broken away giving access to the footing and drainage below. Following these steps wall treatments and any necessary sealants are applied. Now your home is ready for your internal drainage system to be installed.
A specialized membrane is then installed by one of our highly qualified technicians; sometimes in conjunction with additional equipment such as weeping tile and sump pumps. The last phase of this repair consists of replacing the concrete at the footing of your foundation and checking that all additional equipment is working effectively.
Key advantages to internal drainage is the sheer coverage area it offers, how the system is integrated into the foundation and the holistic nature of the repair. Internal drains act as "firewalls" for ongoing leaks by redirecting any water back underneath your home - and back into the ground where it belongs. Want a demonstration on how the system works? Care and maintenance:
Once an internal drain has been installed and the concrete has fully cured, renovations efforts are free to begin. (We recommend waiting a minimum of 7-14 days to allow full hardening of materials, and 2-3 weeks for high moisture or humid environments.) Outside of wait times, internal drains are maintenance free; unless accompanied by special equipment such as sump pumps and battery backups.
The finished installation of an internal drainage system looks sleek and simple, but it is an intricate system and requires a tamper free existence. Puncturing, cutting or removing any parts of the system, membrane or additional equipment can cause serious damage to the system and can leave your basement vulnerable to future leaks and flooding. Be mindful not to damage the system and contact us if you have any specific concerns so we can help mitigate any future issues.
